Healthy Eco Hand Sanitizer

During cold and flu season, and now with the outbreak of Covid-19, having clean hands is your number one defence against the contraction of any virus (along with social distancing, not touching your face and keeping surfaces clean).

We know that the number one step in fighting a virus is to wash our hands frequently. This has been proven to be the most effective way to protect ourselves. When you're not able to do so, hand sanitizer is the second recommended way to defend yourself and your family.

If you're like many of us, you can't help touching your face - especially now that we heard that statistics say that we touch our face an average of 500-2000 times a day! What?!! Almost half of the face touches involved the mouth, nose, or eyes, which are the easiest pathways for viruses and bacteria to enter our bodies. From picking up objects to turning doorknobs, we’re constantly touching surfaces contaminated with pathogens. These pathogens can be picked up by our hands and get into the body through mucous membranes on the face — eyes, nose, and mouth — that act as pathways to the throat and lungs.

Too Much Hand Cleaning Can Have a Negative Impact.

With frequent hand washing and sanitizing, many individuals are or will be experiencing dry, chapped skin. Cracked skin makes you susceptible to germs. After 2 weeks of hand sanitizer use, our team experienced severe drying of the fingers and cuticles. We adjusted our formulation, which is recommended by the World Health Organization, and added additional ingredients to help relieve the drying effects of their guidelines which recommend a minimum of 60% alcohol in the sanitizer. We have taken the precaution of increasing our dosage to 80% minimum but added soothing aloe leaf gel, repairing Vitamin Ehydrating and restoring Moringa Oil and Glycerin to trap the moisture that it draws into the skin. Additionally, our hand sanitizer contains tea tree oil which is known to kill viruses, bacteria, mold, and fungus. It's also a natural anti-inflammatory. And the incorporation of witch hazel for its ability to ease inflammation and soothe sensitive skin.

Those extra-clean hands can make you more susceptible to an itchy, flaky skin condition known as hand eczema or hand dermatitis, which is especially common among health-care workers and those prone to over washing (like during the Coronavirus outbreak!). Take care of our hands so that they can take care of you!
